Annie Clark (St. Vincent) is a master of musical reinvention, and Daddy's Home finds her slipping into the sleazy, sepia-toned glamour of 1970s New York City. Inspired by her father's release from prison, the album swaps her usual angular, futuristic art-rock for warm Wurlitzers, electric sitars, and backing vocals that sound straight out of a Bowie session at Electric Lady Studios. It’s a brilliant homage to the era of Lou Reed and Steely Dan, filtered through her unmatched, razor-sharp guitar playing. The vinyl pressing captures all that retro analog warmth perfectly—it’s dusty, funky, and wonderfully theatrical.
