A towering achievement in 1980s electronic music. Jean-Michel Jarre composed this album specifically to be performed at massive outdoor spectacles in Houston and Lyon. The music is incredibly grand and cinematic, heavily featuring the Elka Synthex and various Fairlight samples to create sweeping, futuristic synth-scapes. The album is famously tinged with tragedy, as the final track, 'Ron's Piece,' was intended to feature an actual saxophone solo played from space by astronaut Ron McNair, who tragically died in the Challenger disaster. It’s an expansive, deeply emotional electronic record.
